Rate of Play
Open: All moves in 90 minutes, with increments added of 30 seconds per move. Players are required to record their moves throughout the whole game.
Major & Challengers: All moves in 75 minutes, with increments added of 10 seconds per move. Players are not required to record their moves after the first time their clock shows less than 5 minutes.
FIDE Rules of Chess apply. The organiser’s decision is final in all disputes. Prizes may be changed subject to numbers of entries, and players may be moved to appropriate sections. No player may win more than one prize. All place prize money will be shared equally between tied players.

From A1: From Great Parkway (Gosforth Park) Junction, take the A1056 to Killingworth roundabout. Turn right onto the A189 to West Moor, then left onto the B1505 along Great Lime Rd. At the New Coach Inn, turn right onto Forest Hall Rd. Take the 4th left onto Crescent Way North.
From A19: Turn off at Holystone Junction. Take A191, then B1505 to the New Coach Inn. Turn right onto Forest Hall Rd, take 4th left onto Crescent Way North. From Newcastle Airport: Go south on the A696 to Kenton Bar roundabout. Take A1 (North) to Great Parkway, then the A1056 to Killingworth roundabout, turn right onto the A189 to West Moor. Turn left onto the B1505 along Great Lime Road. At the New Coach Inn, turn right onto Forest Hall Road. Take the 4th left onto Crescent Way North.
By Bus: Take the No. 55 bus every 15 minutes from Newcastle Haymarket Bus Station to Forest Hall. Get off at Crescent Way North. The bus stop is 20 metres from Forest Hall Ex-Servicemen’s Institute.
By Metro: From Newcastle Central Station, take the yellow line to Benton. Then walk north along Station Rd. After the railway flyover, bear right for 200 metres, turn left onto Forest Hall Rd, then right into Crescent Way North.

Rating/Grading Performance Prizes
A performance prize will be awarded to the player in each section with the best performance compared to their published rating/grade. In the Open, players with a published FIDE rating will be eligible; and in the Major and Challengers, players with a published ECF grade.
