2021-22 Northumberland Rapidplay Chess Championships
Saturday 5 February, 2022, 11am-6pm
ELIGIBILITY: Entry to the Northumberland Rapidplay Championships is open to anyone who is resident in Tyne & Wear or Northumberland or is a member of a club affiliated to Northumberland Chess Association. ECF Bronze membership or higher is recommended for all tournaments – if you are not an ECF member, an extra amount will be included in your entry fee.
VENUE: Forest Hall Social Club is the venue of Forest Hall Chess Club, situated on Great Lime Road (15 minutes’ walk from Palmersville Metro). Free parking outside & 150 metres away outside Aldi. The 55 bus from Haymarket Bus Station in Newcastle stops 100 metres away.
ENTRY FEE: ECF Members: Adults £10, Juniors (Under 18 on 1/9/21) £8. Non-ECF members: Adults £21, Under 18s (on 1/9/21) £14.
SECTIONS: OPEN: 6-Round Swiss tournament open to all, 20 mins & 10 seconds per move.
Prizes: 1st (the Open Champion) £100, 2nd £50, 3rd £25.
Under 1800 ECF Rating: 1st (the Major champion) £50, 2nd £25. MINOR: 6-Round Swiss tournament for players rated under 1500 or with no rating, 20 mins & 10 seconds per move. Prizes: 1st (The Minor Champion) £50, 2nd £25.
JUNIOR: 6-round Swiss tournament for players aged Under 16 on 1st January 2022. In each round, participants play White & Black v same opponent, 10 minutes & 5 seconds per move. Prizes based on entries. Prizes in all sections may change, depending on the number of entries. Prizes will be shared by players on the same score.

Round 5 – 3.40pm
Round 6 – 4.50pm
