To adapt to the developing situation around the transmission of the Covid-19 virus (Delta variant) in the North East, some important changes have been made to the rules and format of the Forest Hall Summer Rapidplay to ensure the safety of all participants.
These are as follows:
- Players aged 11 and over will be required to wear either a mask or visor when sitting at the chessboard, as well as when moving around the venue. (These can be supplied by the tournament if you do not already have one.)
- Adult (18 years and over) events and Junior (Under 18 events) will be held in separate rooms.
We have adapted the format of the Rapidplay Congress to include a separate Junior Championship, for Under 18 years old players rated 1000+ ECF.
This means that we can hold the Under 18 events (Junior Championship, and Kids New 2 Chess) in a separate room from the Adult (18 years and over) tournaments (Senior Championship, and Adults New 2 Chess).
The separate Adult and Junior events will be held in the Concert Room (downstairs) and the Function Room (upstairs), with the tournaments with the larger number of entrants downstairs in the larger Concert Room (300 square metres).
