ELIGIBILITY: Entry open to any player with a FIDE ID Code (your personal 6-digit number, viewable at https://ratings.fide.com/). Players without a FIDE ID Code can participate as long as they are members of the English Chess Federation and agree to be affiliated as ENG.)
There is space for a maximum of 56 players.

VENUE: The function room above The Chillingham is a famous North East chess venue, where various international tournaments were held in the 1990s. It is also the venue of the upcoming Northumbria Chess Masters, to be held February 14-18, 2018. (For more info, go to: www.foresthallchess.org.uk)
To get to The Chillingham, take the Tyne & Wear Metro to Chillingham Road station, and cross the bridge – the pub is 150 metres from the metro. From Newcastle City Centre, you can also take the 62 or 63 bus to Chillingham Road.
SECTIONS: One section for everyone! Includes various rating, junior & seniors prizes.
ROUNDS: 7 rounds, with 5 minutes each per player, plus 2 seconds per move.
TIMING:
Round 1 13.00 – 13.30 Round 2 13.30 – 14.00
Round 3 14.00 – 14.30 Round 4 14.30 – 15.00
Round 5 15.00 – 15.30 Round 6 15.30 – 16.00
Round 7 16.00 – 16.30 Prizegiving 16:40

ENTRY FEE £2, payable in cash by 1pm on the day.
PRIZES 75% of entry fees will be returned as prizes.

FOOD/DRINK: The Chillingham serves a wide range of alcoholic and soft drinks, including real ales, tea and coffee, and an excellent selection of reasonably priced pub meals. The upstairs function room is open to players of all ages, but please remember that the bar and lounge downstairs are licensed premises.
RATINGS Games will count towards your FIDE blitz rating, published on the website: https://ratings.fide.com/
However, games will NOT count towards your ECF Rapidplay Grading.
FIDE Ratings will be used, in this order: Blitz and then Standard Play. If a player has no FIDE rating, their national grade/rating will be converted, and completely ungraded players will be given an estimated grade.
