Forest Hall Chess Club is proud to host its first-ever Grandmaster Training event, with GM Danny Gormally from Alnwick, the North East’s strongest player, on Saturday February 4, from 11:00am to 1:30pm, at the club.
Apart from being a highly experienced Grandmaster and England team member, Danny is also an acclaimed writer about chess. He has written a series of instructional books, and has also written a highly entertaining diary of a professional player, titled: “Insanity, Passion and Addiction: A Year Inside the Chess World.”
Danny will be leading an interactive 2 ½ hour training session on “How to punish weak moves in the opening.” The coaching will be supported by Tim Wall and Mike Smith.
This is a brilliant opportunity to learn from a Grandmaster, and is open to everyone – aspiring club and non-club members of all ages and abilities. The session includes exercises and feedback, and the entry fee is £10.

The Peruvian grandmaster probably thought he had escaped the opening
